About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Finance and Business Support Officer to join our clients team. In this role, you will assist in delivering an efficient financial and systems service, ensuring the business needs of the department are met in a cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for managing departmental expenditure, income, and financial systems while supervising support staff to maintain high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor procurement processes, manage purchase orders, and handle direct payments according to council procedures.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for quotations or tenders and maintain the procurement database.
  • Resolve invoice-related queries and ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Manage the department's petty cash and maintain records for grant payments.
  • Prepare income and VAT returns, manage sales ledgers, and monitor debt collection.
  • Contribute to the development and management of departmental processes to improve efficiency.
  • Provide financial and performance-related advice to departmental managers.
  • Supervise and support assigned staff, including workload management and training.
  • Assist in budget monitoring, financial reporting, and preparation of financial returns.

Essential Criteria:

  • Finance and supervising / management of staff experience required.
  • Experience in budget collation, review, financial transactions, and reconciliation.
  • Experience managing procurement processes and financial reporting.
  • Supervisory experience within an office environment, including workload management.
