Project Engineer – Control Systems

£45k-£55k dependent on experience + bens

Office based (Southeast London) with some travel across Southeast (fully expensed)

8.30-4.30 Monday – Friday (NO weekends)

Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking to make a move away from being solely on the tools?

Are you good with numbers?

This role is ideal for an experienced Controls Engineer with Project Management experience with experience with generator automation commissioning and good knowledge of SCADA systems, looking for a role offering more office based work.

As Project Engineer for this market leader you will:

  • Prepare quotes for internal and external works.
  • Create cable schedules, I/O schedules, and termination sheets.
  • Draft risk and method statements; arrange inductions for site operatives.
  • Design custom control panels to meet project needs.
  • Carry out electrical installations on-site, including fuel systems, generators, controllers, and containment.
  • Install, terminate, and connect cabling as required.
  • Perform electrical testing and support site team commissioning.
  • Conduct generator load bank testing and system acceptance tests (FAT/SAT).
  • Modify wiring for fuel and PLC systems, including switchboard alterations.
  • Test and commission generators, controllers, and fuel systems.
  • Oversee installations with commissioning teams, ensuring sign-offs and client training.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors for additional works.
  • Order materials and approve invoices for subcontractor services.
  • Train apprentices in electrical installations and generator systems.
  • Support the Solutions and Mechanical teams with controls work, supervising tasks as needed.

The Project Engineer will have:

  • Experience as a Project Engineer/Manager within Control Systems
  • Strong technical understanding of control systems and schematics
  • Allen Bradley PLC and SCADA knowledge
  • Control Panel design, testing and commissioning, Modbus and Switchgear knowledge and experience
  • An electrical/automation background
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to develop good relationships
  • Be flexible, happy to travel as required
