Project Design Manager (Renewable Energy)

We are looking for a highly skilled Project Design Manager to lead client-focused construction design management for large-scale wind and solar projects. You will oversee a team of engineers, ensuring safety in design and compliance with CDM Regulations, and act as the PD or PSDP contact when required.

Responsibilities of Project Design Manager:

  • Lead a team of civil engineers, ensuring design and engineering services meet safety, quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
  • Align team resources and capabilities with company needs.
  • Stay updated on technology relevant to renewable energy projects, providing necessary training and experience.
  • Develop efficient team systems and processes, ensuring compliance with business requirements.
  • Mitigate risk exposure through effective strategies.
  • Foster best practices across different markets and business units.

Key Requirements: To excel in this role, you should have:

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, especially in the context of renewable energy.
  • Understanding of renewable energy technologies and their application.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., UK CDM Regulations).
  • Cross-functional project management skills.
  • Leadership experience in complex project interfaces.
  • Commercial awareness regarding contracts, cost control, and engineering value.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • Strong presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in staff management and risk mitigation.
  • Background in coordinating design efforts for renewable energy projects.
  • Practical civil engineering experience.
  • Honours degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Preferably, Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
