We are currently looking for a Safety Case Configuration Engineer to work on the Sizewell C project. This is a contract role to run through to the end of December but will be long term. The role will be based in Gloucester with hybrid working arrangements.

Job Purpose / Overview
• To support operation of processes for the configuration control of the safety case, and the ongoing development of those processes.
• To support the operation of the LC20/design change processes and interactions with other parts of the groups, such as EDF Nuclear services, the SZC Engineering Integration Team and the No Change Committee (NCC).
• To ensure that the safety case is not compromised by ensuring the team is engaged in the design change processes through the timely production of the appropriate safety cases for each design change.


Principal Accountabilities
• To understand the LC20/design change processes for the SZC project and the associated safety case
• Support the SZC project in developing changes to the safety case
• Provide safety case input to non-conformances and design changes for specified systems
• Work effectively and maintain a strong relationship with EDF Engineering and Regulatory bodies
• Co-ordinate support from other external organisations
• Interface with the regulator in the areas of safety case management and the hazards safety case.


Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or equivalent in physical science, maths or engineering
• Working towards Chartered engineer status would be desirable.

Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills:
• Understanding of safety case management/production within the nuclear industry
• Excellent organisational skills
• Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team
• Understanding the needs of quality
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
