My client is looking for a Policy and Reward officer to support the Policy and Reward Manager in the development and implementation of People Services policies and strategies, to include Trade Union Facilities, Job Design and Pay and Reward, which contribute to and support the People Strategy and the strategic aims of the client

Day to Day Duties

  • To support the Policy and Reward Manager in the development, implementation and review of comprehensive corporate People Services Policies, Trade Union facilities, Job design and evaluation, Pay & Reward, Engagement and Consultation to support the People Strategy for the The client.
  • To support the Policy and Reward Manager in the development of strategies to support the organisation in the delivery of these key areas; HR Policy, collective bargaining arrangements, Job design and evaluation, Pay & Reward, Engagement and Consultation.
  • To research and provide policy development professional input to ensure the development of strategic priorities that support the People strategy and complement the strategic direction for the The client.
  • To support and lead in policy development for employment related issues supporting agile and new ways of working to support the People Strategy.
  • To support the implementation of job design and job evaluation, total pay and reward strategy and support the implementation and practice lead for the The client's pay and reward structure.
  • To provide facilities for Trade Union engagement and support in recognition of collective bargaining agreements.
  • To develop reports, as directed by the Policy and Reward Manager, for presentation to the People Services Director, the Executive Director of Corporate Resources and/or CMT/SMT, People Board and Committees as required.
  • To undertake research to support the policy, pay and reward activities undertaken.
  • To undertake special projects (including procurement) as allocated by the Policy and Reward Manager.

Key Skills and Experiences

Essential Criteria

  • Detailed knowledge of HR Policies, employment and equalities legislation and its application in a major organisation.
  • Experience of developing HR policy/guidance in a large complex organisation.
  • Experience of working with Trade Unions, consulting, influencing decision making and collective bargaining.
  • Experience of working in a HR capacity within a large/complex organisation with multiple stakeholders driving, implementing, and applying HR policy and strategy.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience of leading on ad hoc HR Projects to reach successful outcomes.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of Job Design and Job Evaluation.
  • Knowledge of Pay, Benefits & Reward strategies.
  • Knowledge of local government and/ or public sector conditions of service.
  • Experience of developing HR learning resources for employees
