We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Workers and SEN Teaching assitants to join our team and help make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Job DescriptionAs a Residential Support worker / SEN teaching assistant , you will work alongside our experienced care team to provide day-to-day support to students within our residential accommodation. You will play a key role in ensuring the well-being, safety, and personal development of each student, assisting with their educational and recreational activities, and promoting independence and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with personal care needs, including feeding, dressing, and mobility assistance where required.
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment in the residential area, including monitoring behavior and promoting positive relationships.
- Assist with the implementation of individual care plans, working closely with educational staff, therapists, and parents.
- Support students with academic tasks and help them engage with extracurricular activities and leisure pursuits.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviors, ensuring all documentation is kept up to date.
- Encourage students to develop life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported.
Key Requirements
- Experience working with children or adults with special educational needs or disabilities (SEN/D) in a care or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
- A passion for supporting young people with complex needs to reach their full potential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
- A relevant qualification in health, social care, or education (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3) is advantageous also must have both child and adult Dbs .
