Job Summary: Interim Technical/Financial Accountant - Statutory Accounts, Pensions, and Treasury

Pay: £260 per day

Role Purpose:The role supports the Pensions, Treasury, and Statutory Accounts team for the 2024/25 year-end close, interim audits, and preparation of the Statement of Accounts. Reporting to the Chief Accountant and Pensions Finance Manager, it is a minimum six-month assignment.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant.
  • Experienced in financial reporting and local government year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Statutory Accounts:

    • Implement IFRS 16 Lease accounting for 2024/25.
    • Support interim audits and address audit queries for 2024/25 and 2023/24.
    • Complete 2023/24 Whole of Government Accounts.
    • Reconcile year-end debtors/creditors and prepare disclosures.
    • Produce the 2024/25 Statement of Accounts.
  2. Pensions:

    • Manage Pension Fund year-end, audit, and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure timely completion of statutory returns.
    • Oversee treasury activities for payments and trades.
    • Deliver Pension and Statutory Accounts projects.
    • Prepare Pension Fund Accounts per regulatory standards.
  3. Other:

    • Undertake additional tasks as directed by management.
