The company:

A market leading specialist subcontractor who cover London and the Southern Home Counties. They provide Painting & Decorating, Drylining and Carpentry services ranging from £1m - £15m in value. Projects will include Residential, Commercial and Education schemes.

The role:

Reporting into a Commercial Manager you will enter the business at a Trainee level, focussing on Estimating for the Painting & Decorating side of the business. Your role will involve learning everything there is to know about the following:

  • Develop project budgets based on estimates and provide cost information to project managers and clients
  • Assist to prepare and submit competitive bids and tenders for new projects
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with project costs and timelines
  • Suggest alternative materials or methods that can achieve cost savings
  • Monitor project costs against estimates and budgets, identifying any variances
  • Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, tender submissions, and correspondence with suppliers and Main Contractors
