General Teaching Assistant - BexleyPay: £80 - £100 per day (Dependent on Experience)

Are you passionate about supporting students' learning and well-being? Do you want to make a real difference in the classroom? We are seeking a dedicated and proactive General Teaching Assistant to join our team in Bexley.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Teaching Support:

    • Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities based on students' responses.
    • Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities, providing feedback to the teacher on student progress and behaviour.
    • Monitor, assess, and record student progress and activities.
    • Provide feedback to students on their progress and attainment under teacher guidance.
  • Classroom Assistance:

    • Arrange and provide resources for lessons and activities as directed by the teacher.
    • Support students' social and emotional well-being, reporting concerns to the teacher when necessary.
    • Assist in the development of individual plans for students, such as One Page Profiles, EHCPs, and case studies.
    • Support the use of ICT in lessons and invigilate formal and mock examinations.
  • Student Support:

    • Work with students with special educational needs (SEN) and those for whom English is not their first language.
    • Help students develop personal and social skills, encouraging independence in tasks such as eating, dressing, and hygiene.
    • Escort and supervise students on educational visits and out-of-school activities.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Share information about students with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies as appropriate.
    • Support the work of other Teaching Assistants and volunteers in the classroom.
  • Professional Development and Duties:

    • Attend meetings, briefings, and CPD sessions as required.
    • Undertake training to assist students with medical and care needs, ensuring full access to school trips/visits.
    • Facilitate smooth transitions between educational phases.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Handle immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies and procedures.
  • Respect confidentiality regarding sensitive issues linked to students, staff, and the academy.
  • Support inclusion and detentions, ensuring statutory compliance.
  • Comply with safeguarding policies and liaise with the Designated Safeguarding Person when necessary.
