Your Opportunity

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant committed to developing pupil potential, who has high standards and the ability to challenge all children. You will be a strong team player who will contribute to the wider life of the school, have excellent communication skills and be able to work positively with children, parents and staff. It would be desirable for candidates to have significant, current experience of EYFS.

Please note the hours of work will range between 8.45 - 15.30 Monday - Friday.

Main Purpose of the Job:

To work under the instruction / guidance of teaching / senior staff to undertake work / care / support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils including those with special needs, to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has/is (Essential/Desirable)

  • Good numeracy/literacy skills E
  • NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience D
  • Training in the relevant learning strategies, e.g. literacy D
  • First Aid Training as appropriate D
  • Working with or caring for children of relevant age E
  • Effective use of ICT support learning E
  • Use of other equipment technology - video, photocopier E
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning E
  • Ability to self evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning activities E
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults E
  • Work constructively as part of a team E
  • Understanding of relevant policies/code of practice and awareness of relevant legislation D
  • General understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
