About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive Business Partner to join our Finance & Corporate Services team. This pivotal role provides strategic financial advice to service managers overseeing budgets of up to £200m, ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency across the Council.

You will act as a trusted advisor, collaborating with leadership teams to shape service plans, optimize resource allocation, and drive financial performance. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to policy development, financial planning, and strategic decision-making in a dynamic public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert financial advice to support complex business decisions.
  • Lead budget setting, revenue/capital monitoring, and financial risk assessment.
  • Work closely with service departments to ensure financial best practices and compliance.
  • Utilize data analytics to enhance budget monitoring and long-term financial planning.
  • Train and support managers in financial management and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure effective financial support for key projects and initiatives.
  • Drive improvements in the Integra Financial Management System.
  • Manage and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Deputize for the Head of Finance Business Partnering as required.
About You:
  • Proven experience in financial management, business partnering, or strategic financial planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to assess situations from a business and finance perspective.
  • Experience in managing teams and delivering high-quality financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of public sector finance, governance, and best practice models is desirable.
