Our Outstanding Academy is seeking a passionate and experienced Head of English / Director of English to join our team from January 2025. The successful Head of English / Director of English candidate will play a pivotal role in driving forward the English department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning are maintained. As Head of English / Director of English, you will develop and implement strategies to enhance student progress and attainment in English.
Key Responsibilities - Head of English / Director of English:
- Collaborate with the team to create a dynamic and engaging mathematics curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Lead and inspire a team of English teachers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning within the English department, implementing strategies for improvement where necessary.
- Analyse data to track student progress and attainment, identifying areas for intervention and support.
- Foster a positive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported to achieve their academic goals.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the leadership team to promote cross-curricular initiatives and shared best practices.
- Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to support student learning and achievement.
Qualifications and Experience - Head of English / Director of English:
- A degree in English or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Significant experience teaching English at secondary level, with a proven track record of raising student achievement.
- Strong understanding of current educational trends, pedagogical approaches, and assessment practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community.
