SEN Teacher – The Role:

  • Support the SEN Teacher to provide education for children
  • Encouraging the inclusion of children with SEN
  • Provide positive reinforcements, praise and rewards to young adults.
  • Modelling, within the class, support strategies designed to encourage and develop appropriate behaviour in various settings, i.e. with individuals and group/whole class settings.
  • Support any student’s behaviour programme and or/ support whole school positive inclusion systems.
  • Attending relevant meetings and in-service training provided by the school.
  • Supervising students that have been isolated from other learners
  • Consulting with parents regarding student support matters and responding to incidents of challenging behaviour.
  • Personal responsibility to make a decision when to take action to restrain any student demonstrating behaviour deemed to be a threat to themselves or to others.
  • Assist in the completion of any completion reports that may occur due to student’s behaviour
  • Provide personal care if required
  • Permanent, full-time school-based contract

SEN Teacher - The Person:

Mandatory requirements:

  • Experience in working with SEN
  • QTS / PGCE qualification or equivalent
  • Up to date enhanced DBS

Desirable

  • Familiarity with the needs of autistic learners
  • Familiarity with TEACCH
  • Flexibility and positive attitude
