A specialist Secondary SEND school in Bexleyheath are currently looking to appoint a qualified Design and Technology teacher to teach resistant materials and construction on a full-time basis with an immediate start.

The Role

This role is a full-time teaching position in the school’s Design and Technology department. You will be teaching small classes across both KS3 and KS4. Year 7 to year 9 classes follow a broad introduction to all Design and Technology subjects. From year 10, pupils opt to either complete GCSE Design and Technology or GCSE Construction BTEC. You will be responsible for all aspects of the teaching and learning, assessments and coursework towards examination.

Person Specification

The school are looking for a

  • fully qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) OR unqualified experience with extensive experience
  • Previous experience supporting students with SEND / SEMH

This Secondary Special Needs school is part of a larger trust and offers students ages 11 – 19 with special educational needs a specialist learning environment. All pupils require extra support in their learning, social interactions and behaviour. School leaders and staff have high expectations for students and they are dedicated to providing each child with the support they need. Alongside the main curriculum, pupils receive therapies which help them to understand their emotions better. These include speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and dog mentoring.
