Contract Supplier Quality Engineer - Composites

My client, a high performance engineering consultancy rooted in motorsport and operating across a number of technical sectors, requires an experienced supplier quality engineer for a contract role outside IR35.

The supplier quality engineer will ensure the quality and reliability of composite materials supplied to my client’s business. Working closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams, the supplier quality engineer will establish and maintain robust quality processes for the composite materials used in products.

Responsibilities

  • Define, create, and manage a strategy for meeting the programmes quality requirement
  • Manage and continuously improve an agile quality management system and team
  • Supporting FMEA activities
  • Provide guidance to the inspection team and ensure that quality best practices are being followed
  • Create close working relationships with suppliers to ensure that the development of safety critical parts are robustly manufactured
  • Audit suppliers for approval or performance assessment of new and existing suppliers
  • Develop strategies to ensure that visual carbon composites are in line with the customer requirements
  • Utilise 8D principles as a basis for effective problem resolution and facilitate the resolution of complex, cross functional issues
  • Actively working with suppliers to collaboratively develop product specifications to align with process capability

Requirements

  • Degree or similar – Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Engineering
  • Automotive Tier 1 / OEM or SQE experience, must have sound knowledge of APQP systems & procedures
  • Experience in driving quality improvement in the NPI process.
  • Auditing experience
  • Valid UK driving licence to be able to travel to supplier locations as needed
