As a Homologation engineer at Hedley Studios you will be helping to recreate some of the most iconic cars in history at various scales with electric powertrains.

We are looking for an individual to join our small team, who can bring with them strong experience and technical leadership in all aspects of vehicle certification, coupled with a broadbrush knowledge of vehicle systems and testing.
This is a hands-on role spanning the full lifecycle of vehicle certification, where you will need to be equally happy reading regulations to inform the design process, as well as planning test schedules, preparing vehicles and attending homologation tests.

Finding clever ways to follow the rules is vital to what we do, so as not to destroy vehicle aesthetic and ensure we maintain the spirit of the cars recreate.

Responsibilities:
Bring technical leadership to the wider team on vehicle and sub-system legislative regulations and safety standards applicable to various markets around the world.
Lead the understanding of legislative requirements across programmes, ensuring these are clearly defined, understood and shared with the whole team, making sure requirements are followed from the start of each programme and throughout product development.
Able to maintain strong working relationships with type approval authorities, regulatory bodies, safety consultants and test houses.
Keep abreast of and inform the team of regulatory evolution and changes, to enable a forward view of how these may affect ongoing vehicle development.
Take a leading role in the planning, management and execution of vehicle certification tests.
Manage the collation and delivery of product homologation reports and documentation.
Manage the definition and application of product safety and statutory labelling.

Essential:
A degree in Automotive Engineering or equivalent Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
A background in niche/low volume automotive or motorsport engineering with a broad understanding of vehicle systems.
Experience of vehicle certification, design and testing, working at an appropriate level of responsibility.
Familiar with interpreting and clearly communicating regulations so as to help define design requirements.
Strong problem solving and lateral thinking skills.
A hands-on approach. Comfortable in the design office as well as in the workshop.

Nice to have:
Working knowledge of the certification of EV powertrains and associated components, including battery regulations.
Experience of motorsport certification.
An interest in and knowledge of electric systems.
High Voltage safety training.
