Purpose of Post:

To design software systems for the vehicle control system and drivers display. To integrate vehicle chassis, powertrain and body systems into the overall vehicle control strategy. To engage with suppliers of third party systems to specify software and parameters to meet specifications.

Key Tasks :

1.Program design, development and delivery for vehicle primary control system using PLC based application software.

2.Program design, development and delivery for vehicle display systems using graphical application software.

3.Work closely with system supplier teams to successfully design, develop and deliver software and parameter sets for chassis, powertrain and body systems.

4.Support the design of electrical hardware systems for chassis, powertrain and body systems for diesel, hybrid (HEV) and electric (EV) vehicle platforms

5.Design of control systems for chassis, powertrain and body systems for diesel, hybrid (HEV) and electric (EV) vehicle platforms

6.Design and development of CAN communications systems and architecture.

7.Design and development of vehicle diagnostic systems and tools.

8.Provision and co-ordination of test plans for vehicle commissioning, testing and data logging of vehicle control systems.

9.Support vehicle testing and validation of systems and components.

10.Provision of system technical documentation.

11.Documentation, validation, FMEA and review of all vehicle control system programs.

12.Vehicle control system fault diagnosis.

13.Provide technical assistance to development and production teams.

14.Support aftersales teams with customer problems and technical queries.

15.Investigation and rectification of warranty problems.

16.Continuous improvement of vehicle electrical control systems to improve vehicle reliability, performance and reduce cost of manufacture.

17.Undertake any other duties, or training conducive with the efficient conduct of the post.

Education Attainments


BEng (hons) level or BSc (hons) Software Engineering or related subject

Job Experience

  • Knowledge of Electric and Hybrid Vehicle control systems
  • Knowledge of traction battery control systems
  • Knowledge of chassis powertrain and driveline systems

Specialist Knowledge / Skills

Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, and other relevant software tools.

Support integration of control systems into vehicle platforms, working closely with hardware and software teams.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
