An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax Director to join a well-established and progressive accountancy firm based in Bideford. This is a strategic leadership role offering autonomy, progression to Partner, and the chance to make a real impact in the local business community.
As Tax Director, you’ll lead the firm’s tax department, shaping strategy, overseeing delivery, and providing high-level advisory services. You will work closely with the Partners and wider leadership team to drive growth and ensure an exceptional standard of service across personal, corporate, and specialist tax matters.

Role Responsibilities- Leading and developing the tax function, including managing a growing team
- Delivering high-level advisory work including succession planning, CGT, IHT, R&D tax relief, and tax-efficient business structuring
- Acting as the go-to advisor for key clients, maintaining long-term relationships and adding value through proactive tax planning
- Supporting complex tax compliance for a diverse portfolio
- Identifying new business opportunities and contributing to the firm’s strategic growth
- Mentoring and developing junior tax staff to build team capability

Candidate Requirements- CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Experienced in both personal and corporate tax advisory and compliance
- Commercially minded with a track record of delivering growth and spotting new opportunities
- A strong communicator who enjoys building trusted relationships with clients
- A team leader with experience managing and developing tax teams
- Confident, proactive, and able to operate strategically with senior stakeholders
- £100,000 to £140,000 per annum
