Are you a HLTA looking for a new role for January? We are looking for a skilled individual who is experienced in working with children with SEMH needs and can deliver small groups sessions and cover sessions when needed.

Job Title: Senior Teaching Assistant – Level 3 (Senior Teaching Assistant)

Grade: NJC D Point Range 7-12

Purpose of Job:

  • Implement work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom.
  • Assist in planning, resource management, and occasionally supervise whole classes.
  • Plan, deliver, and report on individual phonics interventions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Undertake cover and be involved in the planning cycle.
  • Implement work programmes and maintain records.
  • Provide specialist SEN support and intervention work.

Support the Teacher by:

  • Establishing a learning environment and assisting in lesson planning.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupil responses and providing feedback.
  • Keeping records, marking work, and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Liaising with parents/carers and providing administrative support.

Support Pupils by:

  • Using specialist skills and assisting with EHCPs.
  • Establishing productive relationships and promoting inclusion.
  • Encouraging cooperation and independence.
  • Providing feedback on progress and achievement.

Personal Specification:

  • Education/Training: Numeracy/literacy skills, NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants, relevant training.
  • Experience: Working with children, national/foundation stage curriculum, ICT support.
  • Knowledge: Policies/codes of practice, child development, learning processes.
  • Skills/Abilities: Planning learning programmes, using ICT, self-evaluation, teamwork.
