Senior Support Worker - Children's Home

Location: Bideford

Salary: 33,300 per annum + Additional sleep-ins at 60 per night (Average 5 per month)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for a Senior Support Worker to join the dedicated team in a 2-bedded children's home, providing care and support to young people recovering from adverse childhood experiences.

About the Role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in leading shifts, ensuring high standards of care, and creating a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Shift Leader, ensuring smooth daily operations and high-quality care.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people, promoting their well-being and independence.
  • Supervise and support staff, ensuring policies and procedures are upheld.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and interventions.
  • Engage in multi-agency work, liaising with external professionals.
  • Participate in on-call duties (paid additionally) to provide guidance and physical support when required.
  • Ensure healthcare needs are met, including appointments and medical procedures.
  • Encourage educational and social development, supporting young people in reaching their full potential.
  • Undertake household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and general upkeep to maintain a warm, welcoming environment.
  • Assist in preparing young people for admission, transition, or discharge from the home.
  • Support and develop less experienced staff members.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a residential setting.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including long days, weekends, and public holidays.
