The role of Finance Assistant supports two Accountants and takes primary responsibility for the Purchase Ledger function.

The position is being recruited on a part-time basis 25-30 hours a week, based on-site in beautiful surroundings. Days & times worked are flexible.

Purpose of the Job

  • Accounting, purchase ledger, administration support to the finance team.
  • General support to the needs and demands of the Trust finance related functions and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Taking care of administrative tasks, such as correspondence, filing dealing with daily post
  • Be the first point of contact for accounts payable including staff and volunteers expenses and assist with accounts receivables process
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed customer and vendor records and creating new customer and vendor accounts where necessary
  • Building a good relationship with internal and external stakeholders and providing the accounts team with relevant information
  • Completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Collecting monthly direct debits and preparing supplier payment runs
  • Preparing and entering journals into the system
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month-end duties
  • Reconcile accounts at regular intervals; reporting discrepancies, mistakes or potential fraud to senior management in time including supplier statement reconciliations
  • Assisting in annual audit exercise
  • Assist in any ad hoc projects required

  • An excellent work ethic, organisational and time-management skills to ensure deliverables.
  • Computer literacy and a working knowledge of accounting packages and other relevant applications, such as spreadsheets
  • Solid understanding of financial systems and processes
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and make recommendations
  • The ability to function well in a team, as they need to provide support as needed
