SEND Emotional Support Facilitator

Location: Outskirts of Biggleswade (Transport required)

Pay rate: £15 per hour, paid weekly

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am-4.30am and Friday 8.30am-4pm with half an hour break

Full-time, Temporary Ongoing

Our well-known client based in on the outskirts of Biggleswade are seeking a SEND Emotional Support Facilitator to ensure the delivery of high-quality out of class support for students with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities. This role is on an ongoing temporary basis for a minimum of 2 months.

Duties:

  • To be the first point of contact for students with SEND needs.
  • To proactively support students with SEND outside of the class in line with their identified needs.
  • To develop a range of lunch time activities to engage students to promote social engagement.
  • To promote and lead on social events to encourage positive interaction and engagement of students.
  • To liaise with curriculum areas on an ongoing basis to support the safety, well-being and achievement of students.
  • To ensure that displays and resources are kept up to date and welcoming.
  • To maintain additional learning support records.

The person:

  • Current Enhanced DBS for both adults and children
  • English and Maths or similar at GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2014
  • Experience of working with a range of young people with SEND within a supporting capacity
  • Experience of working in an educational setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity issues in education
  • Ability to work effectively with teaching and support staff across college to identify and meet the learning and welfare needs of students, including making appropriate referrals
  • Ability to work effectively with students on a one-to-one basis
