Our client is one of the UK's fastest-growing passive fire protection companies. They provide fire doors, fire stopping, fire barrier and structural steel protection services to a wide range of clients including some of the best-known hospitals, universities and construction firms in the country.Passive Fire ConsultantBased at our office, this role reports to the Technical Manager. We are looking for an experienced Passive Fire Consultant to work full-time (between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday - Friday). Responsibilities:
- Providing guidance on specifications and firestopping details to clients at design stages of projects; attending meetings with Tier 1 contractors' design teams to support them throughout the various RIBA stages. Project elements range up to £1,000,000 in installation value.
- Supporting the Technical team in the product selection process at design stages. Producing fire stopping schedules for use in the installation process maintaining the golden thread of information.
- Site visits and meetings with clients will be required to finalise details and requirements and with installation teams to ensure the specifications and details scheduled are followed and address any issues that may arise affecting standard details installations
- Maintaining strong relationships with passive fire manufacturers and their product solutions, and keeping up to date with regulations to ensure compliance across the business.
Experience:
- Previous experience within passive fire protection, product systems and technical details (particularly in respect of penetration and linear gap seals), is essential. The preferred candidate will have a background in manufacturing or testing and knowledge of third-party certification schemes.
- Candidates should have knowledge of the testing standards of passive fire protection, building regulations and guidance documents, and the ability to read technical drawings, floor plans, fire strategies etc. Good IT skills are a prerequisite. Experience with CAD and using industry software is desirable. BIM modelling / 3D models' navigation is desirable, but not essential, and full training and support in line with developments in these fields will be provided.
- Candidates should be able to find solutions to technical issues and propose solutions in accordance with the tested data. Correspondingly, demonstrating proficiency in handling and communicating on complex information to a high standard would be highly beneficial.
- A Level 3 qualification in passive fire protection is desirable, but the Company will provide relevant training and support in attaining this.
