Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical and electrical services on complex healthcare infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with hands-on experience in projects involving MRI and CT scanner installations, ensuring compliance with medical building standards and seamless coordination across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery:

Manage the complete lifecycle of M&E services on healthcare construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring delivery to schedule, within budget, and to required standards.

Healthcare Expertise:

Deliver specialist M&E infrastructure to support diagnostic imaging environments such as MRI and CT installations. This includes knowledge of cooling systems, power resilience, shielding requirements, and patient/clinical pathways.

Client and Stakeholder Management:

Act as the lead point of contact for NHS trusts, private healthcare providers, and project consultants. Chair meetings, lead technical reviews, and produce regular reports.

Team Coordination:

Oversee the work of internal engineers, external subcontractors, and material suppliers. Collaborate with design, procurement, and site delivery teams to ensure a smooth workflow.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Ensure all mechanical works comply with HTM (Health Technical Memoranda), BS standards, and healthcare-specific mechanical and electrical protocols.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

Minimum 5 years in mechanical or M&E project delivery, with at least 2 years focused on healthcare projects.

Demonstrable experience managing M&E works for MRI, CT, or other diagnostic imaging suites.

Understanding and hands-on experience with:

HVAC systems specific to healthcare

Specialist ventilation for imaging environments

Electrical and mechanical shielding, cabling, and containment systems

Full working knowledge of healthcare building standards (e.g., HTM/HBN).

SMSTS or equivalent site safety training.

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field (preferred).
