Job Overview:

Paisley Site Services areseeking a skilledVacuum Engineerto join our clients team in Billingham. The ideal candidate will have experience in diagnosing faults, performing reactive maintenance, and utilising a range of engineering equipment, including welding, grinding, milling, and more. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of vacuum systems and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults in vacuum systems and associated equipment.
  • Perform reactive and planned maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Utilise a variety of engineering tools, including welders, grinders, milling machines, and other workshop equipment.
  • Carry out repairs, modifications, and installations on vacuum-related machinery.
  • Work with mechanical and electrical components to ensure system functionality.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and fault findings.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and departments to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in vacuum engineering, mechanical maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in fault-finding and troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with welding, grinding, milling, and general fabrication.
  • Knowledge of vacuum pumps, chambers, and associated control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC, HND, or equivalent).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of high-vacuum and ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) systems.
  • Electrical fault-finding and repair experience.
