They are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team.

Job Description

As an SEN College Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans, working closely with SEN Coordinators and Teachers to ensure that each student receives tailored support that enables them to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with a variety of SEN, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement.
  • Support students with personal care needs (if required) and help develop their independence.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to the SEN Coordinator and contribute to the review and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist in classroom management and ensure the safety and well-being of all students during college hours.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and external professionals to implement strategies that enhance learning outcomes.
  • Provide personal care and support as and when required.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young people with SEN, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing needs and situations.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of SEN-specific strategies, including speech and language interventions, sensory integration techniques, or behaviour management approaches.
  • Experience using assistive technology and other resources to support learning.
  • A relevant qualification in education, child development, or SEN support (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent).
