We are currently partnering with our client in their search for a CNC Miller Programmer to join a friendly, supportive engineering team in Bedford, enjoying a relaxed yet professional workshop environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, they will programme, set up and run precision milling operations on Haas or Fanuc control mills, transforming raw components into finished parts. This position is ideal for a fully skilled miller who thrives on independent responsibility and takes pride in delivering consistently accurate results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Write, test and optimise G-code programmes for Haas or Fanuc CNC milling machines.
  • Set up machines, select appropriate tooling and fixturing, and load raw materials.
  • Conduct trial runs, measure finished components with micrometres, calipers and gauges, and adjust programmes to achieve tight tolerances.
  • Monitor production runs for quality, efficiency and safety, intervening to resolve issues or recommend improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive job sheets, tooling records and machine logs.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to interpret technical drawings and suggest cost- or timesaving enhancements.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure compliance with health-and-safety regulations.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience programming and operating Haas or Fanuc CNC milling centres.
  • Strong proficiency in writing and debugging G-code.
  • Fully skilled miller, comfortable with end mills, face mills, drilling and tapping operations.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and machining tolerances
