Day to Day Duties

Working as a Steel Fixer for our client Duties will be:

  • MIG Welding experience is essential for this role.
  • Interpret technical drawings and complicated engineering documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Perform physically demanding work and lift heavy items.
  • Work in a fast paced environment, subject to numerous schedules, priority changes and short notice activity.
  • Positive attitude
  • Ability to work well in a team.

Essential Skills

  • To interpret technical drawings and follow written instructions.
  • Use a wide range of materials including rebar.
  • To work with tight tolerances up to 5mm.
  • Prepare and set up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs.
  • Liaise with the work supervisor.
  • To MIG weld bars based on specifications and drawings.
  • To keep count of finished product and prepare product for shipment.
  • Manual handling and heavy lifting
  • Use an overhead crane to assist with lifting and stacking heavy items.
  • Operate other machines within the Workshop when requested to support business needs.

Experience Required

  • MIG welding: 2 years (required)
  • Reading Blueprints/Schematics: 2 years (required)
