Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transport Administrator to join our client in Bilston. The successful candidate will support the smooth operation of our transport department, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of goods and services. The Transport Administrator will handle administrative duties, manage logistics data, and assist with scheduling and coordination of transport activities. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of transportation processes.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Scheduling & Coordination:
- Organize and schedule transport operations to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain an up-to-date transport schedule and ensure resources are allocated effectively.
Data Entry & Record Keeping:
- Input and maintain accurate transport records in the company’s database.
- Track and monitor transport performance metrics.
- Prepare reports related to deliveries, costs, and transport performance.
Communication & Customer Service:
- Act as a primary point of contact for transport-related inquiries.
- Assist with customer requests and handle issues or concerns related to transport.
- Ensure all transport operations comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure transport documentation is complete, accurate, and filed in accordance with company standards.
- Assist in managing vehicle documentation, including maintenance logs, insurance, and licensing.
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as transportation laws.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Track inventory related to transport needs, including packaging materials and fuel.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to order necessary transport supplies.
Problem Resolution:
- Address and resolve transportation issues, such as delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route changes.
- Work with drivers and management to develop solutions for any issues that arise.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics administration role is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of transport regulations and industry standards.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience using Sage 200
- Knowledge of fleet management and vehicle maintenance processes.
- Previous customer service or client-facing experience.
