Production Planner sought to join an award-winning, £multimillion turnover food manufacturing company based in Bilston. They are a privately owned company who supply numerous sectors including foodservice, retail, wholesale and catering, both in the UK and abroad. This exciting role, which has come about due to expansion, is based on site at the company’s newly extended plant which includes a refurbished canteen facility for all shopfloor staff and state of the art offices which boast excellent facilities and recreational spaces for all office staff.The Role:Working as part of a team of three and reporting to the Production Manager, as a Production Planner you will ensure that products are produced on time and at the lowest possible cost, and that the production and distribution of products runs smoothly.You will also have responsibility for the ownership and development of the Production Scheduling System, including creating and maintaining production schedules and working with the production team to facilitate the successful execution of the daily plan. Your daily duties will include:
  • Maintaining and managing the scheduling system daily to support Production Managers
  • Reviewing customer orders and accounts to support accurate and timely submission of financial information
  • Liaising with Sales to determine customer requirements
  • Approving materials, costs, manufacturing equipment and the size of workforce needed to manufacture
  • Participating in the development of operating plans and monthly forecasting
  • Communicating and explaining manufacturing performance
  • Extracting, organising, analysing, and reporting data in a manner that is useful and relevant for making business decisions
  • Receiving and communicating, in a timely fashion, orders to production, assessing their ability to fulfil the orders
  • Generating and producing a production plan
  • Communicating with customers (Faccenda) in relation to BBQ orders and thereafter to check with production that these orders are being fulfilled.
  • Advising customer of figures at the end of day
  • Collecting and assessing data about production and team’s performance
  • Preparing reports about production processes for upper management and suggests ways to improve efficiency
  • Developing broad technical and communication skills through self-study, internal and external training opportunities
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required from management from time to time.
The successful Production Planner will demonstrate:
  • 3 years’ experience in Production Planning within a busy manufacturing environment
  • 5 GCSEs Grade C passes to include English and Maths or equivalent
  • General knowledge of costing, budgeting, and financial information.
  • Basic accounting methods and logic
  • Excellent organisational, planning and administrative abilities
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to collate and present data, and high level of proficiency using PC spreadsheets
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft; Excel; Power Point; etc) and general systems knowledge
  • Determination to see jobs through to completion
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate data
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to conduct problem identification and give recommendations
  • Ability to support and foster teamwork for projects
  • Solid analytical skills (logical through process, reasonability, timeliness)
  • Proven ability to prioritise objectives and duties
  • Good time management skills
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Professional attitude with flexible approach to work and availability for overtime when required
