The School and the Role
Vision for Education is working in partnership with an inclusive mainstream Primary School in the Birkenhead area of the Wirral, seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND unit. This unit primarily supports children with ASC across EYFS and KS1. As a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with key children in line with their EHCPs, helping to remove barriers to learning and enabling them to reach their full potential. This full-time position runs Monday to Friday and starts after the February half-term break, continuing through to July 2025.
You will collaborate with the SENDCo and external agencies, so strong communication skills are essential. The school provides excellent support, resources, and professional training, ensuring you can make a significant impact in a well-resourced and inclusive environment. This Ofsted-rated 'Good' school is known for its welcoming and inclusive ethos, catering to students across Nursery, KS1, and KS2, including a registered SEND provision.
Requirements
The successful Teaching Assistant will have:
- A passion for SEND and experience working with Primary-aged children.
- Experience supporting children with ASC.
- A positive, creative approach to behavior management and confidence building.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
