We are currently seeking an interim Measurement Specialist/Analyst to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 12 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to 29,719 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

The role is a hybrid role working a minimum of 3 days from the site and the rest of the week remotely. This is subject to change and based on business requirements. There will need to be flexibility as onsite working days will be dependant on when equipment is available.

The Hair Global Design Centre based in Port Sunlight is the primary research and development hub for the creation of our next generation of products that will deliver outstanding technologies and benefits aligned with consumer needs and expectations.
A role is available for a motivated and creative product evaluation and measurement scientist within our Consumer and Technology Insights team. In this role, you will have responsibility in building the Hair Category instrumental evaluation capability required to create new technical insights relating to hair material properties, and evidence of active material and product performance for screening and claims communication. The role will require the evolution and improvement of existing techniques, and the development of novel means for to evaluate product performance. You will also be tasked to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Hair Category capability through the optimisation of instrumentation, methods and data handling processes, and the building of links between objective measures of performance and consumer perception.
You will lead and work closely with multi-disciplinary project teams across the UL Global and Regional Hair Businesses to identify their respective instrumentation and performance evaluation needs to take new technologies and products to market, and with them define the direction of the Hair Category measurement capability programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Lead and support aspects of the Hair Category's technical performance evaluation capability workstream, driving continuous improvement in measurement capability efficiency and effectiveness.
* Define and implement technical evaluation plans for new and current active materials and products to demonstrate functional performance and generate claims substantiation data through own experimentation, and through internal and external partners.
* Provide technical insights through the review and analysis of data from multiple sources, adding value by combining knowledge streams and/or developing performance and insight models.
* Provide expert recommendations and guidance in technical performance evaluation methods to the wider Hair Category team, including the definition of best practice, assisting with strategic planning, and supporting capability build and training.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Within a scientific role, you will have significant experience in measurement development and technical evaluation. You will have experience in designing technical tests and experiments to extract actionable insights. Along with this, you will have demonstrated an ability to set project plans and manage stakeholders.
You will possess:
* BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in a science discipline
* Experience in an industrial or academic measurement sciences area
* Experience in instrumentation hardware or software development would be beneficial
* Experience in stakeholder management and multi-interfaces
* Ability to interpret complex data from multiple sources, generating concise, clear insights and conclusions for communication to a variety of audiences.
* Strong data handling, analysis and interpretation skills are essential, and significant experience in data handling using MS Excel, or other data tools and programmes, and statistical analysis and model building using JMP or SAS, or similar, is beneficial.
