Would you like to make a significant difference to pupils and their families in a unique setting? If so, Wirral Home and Continuing Education Service are looking for a number of well-qualified teachers to teach pupils (primarily Maths and English) in their homes and at their base in Birkenhead.
Pupils have a range of SEMH needs and are often highly anxious and would love the consistency of dedicated teachers who visit them regularly. Pupils in our service range from Year 5 through to Year 11, and there will be an expectation of GCSE teaching for some staff.
Staff would be expected to plan their own lessons, using curriculum frameworks given.
Every lesson really counts for our pupils, who have often been out of school for months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored lessons to individual students or small groups, including those with SEND.
- Liaise closely with pupils' schools, parents, and medical professionals.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, attendance, and welfare.
- Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and provide clear feedback for improvement.
- Participate in meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Use ICT and innovative teaching methods to enhance curriculum delivery.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualifications: Degree or relevant teaching experience.
- Experience: Proven success working with vulnerable students, particularly those with SEND or medical needs.
- Skills: Excellent adaptability, creativity, and ability to inspire students across a range of abilities.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Confidence with ICT and technology to support learning.
- Experience in SEMH settings or trauma-informed approaches.
- Knowledge of highly differentiated teaching methods.
Special Requirements:
A full, clean driving license and the ability to travel across the borough. Flexibility and resilience are essential.
If you're ready to bring your enthusiasm, creativity, and expertise to a dynamic and rewarding role, we'd love to hear from you!
