Quantity Surveyor

Our client is a leading Birmingham developer and wealth management company. This is a vibrant, entrepreneurial group within the residential property sector.

With multiple sites primarily across the Midlands, the company has grown exponentially over recent years, our client now seeks a Quantity Surveyor.

Roles & Responsibilities

On Site

  • Provide support to the Senior Site Manager in performance of his duties

o Health & Safety Support including CDM

o Site Inspections

o Site meetings

o Document Management

  • Commercial Management

o Taking ownership / responsibility for the financial management of the project from inception to completion

o Negotiating contracts

o Look to strategically improve procedures by reviewing and developing operational flows, with key stakeholders within the business

o Overseeing product development and providing best practice and value for money

o Liaise with the Group Procurement Manager and monitor / update the Group Material Deals and ensure compliance by the supply chain

  • Project Financial Management

o Project Planning and programming including cash flow management and expenditure reports

o In conjunction with the site manager design co-ordination with key consultants, suppliers’, and sub-contractors

o Manage and control the risks of the project; risk management and the implementation of procedures to mitigate the risks in terms of time and cost

o Set short term and long-term goals for the project and the project team

o Procurement

o Dispute prevention and / or resolution

  • Head Office Integration

o Liaison with department heads

o Board Reports - Budget reporting, cash flow monitoring / variance reporting, costs to complete.

o Mitigation measures to overcome cost over runs / increased works package costs

o Close working relationship with the company accountant to review the current method of reporting costs and how the site reports and integrates with the same

o Prepare a set of procedures to manage that process to ensure that all costs are accounted for

o Project Quality Plan
