Job Title: Accountant (Waste Management Experience Essential)
Location: Birmingham, Office-Based
Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
We are seeking a talented and motivated Accountant with experience in the Waste Management sector to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing the financial operations of a leading company within the industry, offering a competitive salary and the chance to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of costings, budgets, and forecasts, especially related to waste management services.
- Work closely with the operations team to analyze and report on financial performance across multiple business units.
- Reconcile accounts, manage cash flow, and ensure all financial transactions are recorded correctly.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with financial planning and analysis.
- Provide insights and advice to senior management on financial performance, cost-saving opportunities, and budgeting.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Accountant, with experience in the Waste Management industry.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar) and MS Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- A relevant accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is highly desirable, but not essential.
