Our client is small but growing firm of Chartered Accountants based near Edgbaston, not far from Birmingham City Centre, who are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial Accounts Semi Senior or Senior from practice who is keen to join a small but fast growing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering outstanding customer service
  • Support Manager/Partner in existing client relationships and play a key role in maintaining these relationships
  • To proactively identify added value items for the client and highlight to Manager/Director as appropriate and seeking new business
  • Oversee a number of clients and be responsible for the day to day management of their affairs
  • To prepare budgets for assignments at planning stage and update for actual, with explanations of variances arising
  • To efficiently prepare the following to a good standard ready for Manager/Director review:

o Statutory year end accounts and personal/corporation tax returns

o Preparation and submission of VAT returns using Xero

  • To efficiently plan jobs for preparation for self or trainees/technicians
  • To deal with client requests relating to HMRC, PAYE and VAT matters with minimal input from Manager or Director
  • Oversee the maintenance of bookkeeping records for clients using Xero including assistance with day to day queries, any significant issues, software matters etc
  • To proactively provide appropriate training and supervision to trainees/technicians
  • To assist Manager and Director on adhoc tasks related to clients and the business

The successful Accounts Semi Senior / Senior will be ACA/ACCA/CTA part or nearly qualified with at least 3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice. You will have experience in preparing accounts for unincorporated/incorporated businesses with good knowledge of the statutory and technical aspects. You will also have a good knowledge of corporation tax, income tax and VAT and the impact on accounts and client’s overall affairs.
