Robert Half is recruiting for an Assistant Cost Controller for a company based within the Construction industry.

The role is office based with 1 day a week working from home. The role will be key in linking different areas of the business especially Operations & Finance so previous experience within sectors such as Manufacturing & Construction will be key in this role.

Your background will need to be - Assistant Management Accountant, Cost Accountant, Finance Analyst, FP&A or Project Accountant.

This role will involve understanding the detail of contracts & being able to explain the technical aspects to allow full understanding of work & contracts.

Specific duties will include:

* Analyse project costs to ensure alignment with budget in place, be able to communicate where forecast may be exceeded understanding technical aspects of contract

* Work with Managers to ensure resource management & allocation of resources are meeting financial targets

* Understand company goals, work with wider team to align budgets with project objectives

Collate data & present financial reports to stakeholders with particular emphasis on cost management

* Understand wider strategy & objectives to allow cost saving to support projects and improve profitability

* Work with suppliers to negotiate costs & improve terms

* Continually improve processes to automate and streamline Cost Control processes

* Perform variance analysis to find discrepancies between Cost & Budget & understand the implications
