Finance Accountant

Birmingham - Hybrid - 3 Days onsite

£40,000 - £50,000

We are looking for an experienced Finance Accountant for a permanent role with a well established Software provider in Birmingham.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the UK and International Financial Accounting Managers with month-end tasks, including preparation and reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
  • Support the month end process performing balance sheet reconciliations and input into the preparation of the monthly Group balance sheet, cash flow statement and income statement.
  • Challenge and review journals posted by the wider finance team ensuring all are accurate and appropriate.
  • Continuous improvement, implementation and documentation of financial controls and processes to ensure the accurate reporting of the Group’s financial performance and position.
  • Coaching of Assistant Financial Accountants, including review of month-end tasks and journals.
  • Cross training and sharing of best practice both within Financial Control and with the wider finance team.
  • Support the audit process with accurate and timely preparation of reconciliations to support the financial position of the group and its subsidiaries and timely responses to audit queries.
  • Support on other group-wide projects, such as disposals, acquisitions and transformational projects.

Qualifications:

  • Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA), preferably with experience auditing large companies.
  • Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS.
  • Ability to understand complex accounting matters and identify change and improvements in current processes.
  • A self-starter who can work independently, take ownership for their work with an ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross functionally with all departments.
