Finance Business Partner (Property)

Our client is a leading multi-site national business undergoing a transformational phase following a successful takeover and privatisation. With a network of 650 locations across the UK, they are committed to innovation, investment in technology, and improving operational standards. With a history spanning over two centuries, our client remains dedicated to responsible business practices, offering exceptional value and choice to their customers. As they continue to expand, they are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner (Property) to oversee the financial management of their diverse property portfolio.

About the Role:

In this key role, you will manage a nationwide portfolio of 650 sites, overseeing an annual maintenance budget of £15 million and £17 million in capital expenditure. You will act as the main financial partner to the Property team, ensuring the financial efficiency and strategic direction of their freehold and leasehold properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead finance partner for the Property function.
  • Develop and manage the financial framework for capital investment and property maintenance.
  • Work closely with budget holders to prepare business cases and provide capital investment recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and report on capital expenditure and property maintenance costs.
  • Carry out financial analysis on leasehold renewals, exits, dilapidations, and freehold acquisitions/disposals.
  • Manage onerous lease provisions and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Handle tax filings related to property and ensure all legal documentation and debt terms are adhered to.
  • Provide regular updates on financial and operational action plans.
  • Continuously assess KPIs and metrics to monitor the Division's financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to generate actionable management information for the Executive team.

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Finance Business Partner in a senior commercial finance role.
  • Experience in branch retail, with a strong background in property and capital expenditure management.
  • Excellent analytical skills, capable of interpreting and deriving insights from complex financial data.
  • A solid understanding of key financial principles and proactive performance management.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to contribute positively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Qualified accountant, with experience in regulated environments being advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel to their Southern Hub in Maidenhead as required.
