Based near Birmingham, West Midlands our specialist client is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The role will be hybrid based with 3 days a week in the office.

This job would suit an ACCA or ACA qualified accountant who is looking for their first or 2nd role out of practice. They will be responsible for assisting the financial reporting team in ensuring all internal and external financial reporting requirements are achieved in line with company guidelines and standards.

The successful individual will have excellent experience in handling financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements. They will be highly organised and logical approach to managing priorities. Able to deal with a large workload with multiple priorities whilst maintaining accuracy and achieving deadlines. The ideal candidate will be skilled in engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, to build relationships that are based on trust, to work collaboratively and to resolve issues, both internally and externally. Experience in IFRS and FRS 102 reporting is essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns and calculation of monthly VAT postings.
  • Calculation of certain month end accruals and provisions.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, clearing reconciling items and critically challenging basis of calculation of balances.
  • Review and monitoring of intercompany balances.
  • Calculation of monthly interest accruals, including multiple effective interest rate loans.
  • Preparation and management of tax director certificates in relation to property acquisition and disposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly cancellation provision in relation to funeral plans.
  • Preparation of multiple subsidiary entity statutory accounts, including intermediate consolidations.
  • Managing process with auditors of multiple subsidiary entity statutory accounts.
  • Assisting in the compilation of monthly management information pack, including consolidated cashflow reporting and monthly commentary.
  • Calculation of impairment models for statutory reporting, including intercompany and investment impairment.
  • Assist in the assessment and application of accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development of controls and procedures.
  • Ensure relevant documentation is filed and stored appropriately.
