We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Accountant who will report into the Director of Finance and IT. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the processes, systems and policies are effective and the organisation are compliant with Charities SORP, the monitoring and reporting of the financial controls, and the compliance with companies Tax.

Description

  • Manage the annual statutory reporting and work with the auditors in compliance with the current reporting standards.
  • Ensure that financial statements adhere to regulatory standards and accurately reflect the company's financial health.
  • Provision of accurate numbers for all disclosures in the annual report and statutory accounts
  • Closely working with the commercial team, ensuring the accuracy of projects revenue, costs and profitability.
  • Ensuring Balance Sheet reconciliations have been completed to an excellent standard, in a timely manner and have been subjected to a robust review process
  • Preparation of the VAT returns including partial exemptions calculations and oversee systems enhancements to facilitate digital tax transfer regulations are met.
  • Under the direction of the head of finance support projects to implement new, and update existing systems for the processing of financial and non-financial transactions.
  • Oversee the restricted funds reporting, working with the Management Accountant to ensure the proper reporting of grants.
  • Finance project management.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, charity commissions financial controls. legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Proactively identifying problems and opportunities to standardize, streamline/improve processes and analysis and improve accuracy.
  • Responsible for the year-end close process.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Manage and comply with, charity and government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Profile

  • A successful 'Financial Accountant' should have:
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Experience within a medium size charity.
  • Excellent relationship builder at all levels, with a hands-on approach and team player.
  • Self-motivated and driven, with a good understanding of business finance requirements.
  • Ability to embrace change - open to new ways of working and changes to systems and processes.
  • Experience handling annual audits and working with an external auditor.
  • Knowledge of accounting, tax and reporting standards & principles
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Competency in dealing with confidential data and exercising sound judgment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office 365,
  • Experience using Microsoft Business Central accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, driving shared goals and achieving business objectives.
