The primary focus of this role is to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax and statutory reporting requirements for the company and its subsidiaries, including VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and year-end financial statements. The secondary responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of management accounts, maintaining a strong control environment, and providing ad-hoc reporting to support business stakeholders.This position is ideal for an accountant transitioning from practice to industry. The role requires a proactive, organized individual who thrives in a dynamic environment where contributions are valued and rewarded.THIS ROLE IS OFFICE BASED WITH POTENTIALLY ONE DAY A WEEK WORKING FROM HOME.Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare UK and EU quarterly VAT returns.
  • Lead the year-end and statutory audit process in collaboration with external auditors.
  • Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct control reviews and implement process improvements.
  • Review and approve purchase invoice coding and costings.
  • Support the management accounting process, particularly in areas such as stock.
  • Oversee the preparation of management accounts for subsidiary companies.
  • Manage annual tax reporting tasks, including PSA and P11d.
  • Prepare and submit statutory accounts for group companies.
  • Calculate and submit corporation tax, including R&D tax credits, to the tax authorities.
  • Produce reports for government agencies such as the ONS.
  • Perform ad-hoc finance tasks and reporting.
  • Act as a role model to other team members.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with nominal ledger systems.
  • ACCA/ACA part qualified/finalist – audit trained
  • Advanced Excel, numerical, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a preference for teamwork.
  • A curious mindset and willingness to learn both from others and through self-research.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience with Sage 50 and Xero.
  • Experience in a practice environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with PowerQuery and PowerBI.
