We are looking for a highly motivated Financial Controller for a Technology client in Birmingham.

Purpose of the Position

In light of significant growth and ambitious expansion plans, our client is in search of a proactive and seasoned Financial Controller. This role is perfect for someone eager to take on more responsibility and who is aiming for career advancement, with a clear path towards a Finance Director position. You will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations and shaping the strategic direction of the company as it continues its impressive growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Oversee daily accounting functions, ensuring all financial operations are accurate, compliant, and efficient.
  • Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare and manage monthly accounts, including the handling of month-end journals, prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset depreciation through the company’s Business Management System.
  • Audit and Compliance: Lead the year-end audit process, ensuring full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Planning: Conduct financial projections, analyses, and forecasts to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Reporting: Generate comprehensive financial reports, forecasts, and provide ad hoc financial data to the Board of Directors.
  • Supplier and Client Relations: Manage supplier payments, resolve sales invoice issues, and collaborate with the Sales team on credit control.
  • Taxation: Prepare PAYE and VAT returns, manage reconciliations, and oversee online statutory payments.

Requirements

Experience and Skills Required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounts preparation, preferably within an EMEA environment.
  • Proven experience with multi-company accounting and handling overseas business transactions.
  • Strong reporting and data analysis capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking and debtor management.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively and multitask efficiently.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to work under pressure and maintain a sense of humour.
  • A team player with advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Experience with Business Management Systems is essential.

Qualifications

  • Ideally qualified or part-qualified in CIMA, ACCA, or ACA
  • AAT qualified candidates will also be considered
