Joining a Fortune Global 500 business as a Tax Accountant, you will be reporting to the Head of Tax, working closely with stakeholders across various departments, and part of the Financial Control, Tax, and Treasury Department. You will be responsible for ensuring corporate tax compliance for our client, and providing accurate tax forecasting and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
In this role, you'll also serve as a business partner, offering tax-related advice and support. This includes handling ad-hoc queries, delivering training, and identifying potential tax opportunities and risks.
The important work you will be doing:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Preparation and filing of UK corporate tax returns, including supporting information.
- Optimise the UK's overall tax burden and cash flow by ensuring that all appropriate deductions and reliefs are claimed including effective group relief and loss utilisation.
- Produce and maintain the group relief matrix and estimation of Quarterly Instalment Payments for the UK Group.
- Preparation of current & deferred tax notes in local statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
- Ensuring compliance with UK based international tax obligations e.g. CFC regime, transfer pricing, double taxation etc.
- Oversight of corporate tax compliance for Irish subsidiaries, liaising with local advisors to ensure submissions of returns and payment of taxes.
- Preparation of tax provisions for US GAAP group reporting including current and deferred tax position.
- Monthly general ledger reconciliation across all tax account balances.
- Preparation of US reporting tax reconciliations including return to provision reconciliation (local figures to group reporting under US GAAP).
- Preparation of quarterly ETR forecasting tax model to Group.
- Completion of year end internal reporting packs.
- Assistance with preparation, review and submission of UK and Ireland VAT returns and related filings including monitoring payments.
- Monitoring and maintaining the HMRC (UK)/ROS (Ireland) portals.
- Preparation and submission of required statutory reporting to HMRC.
- Improve processes by developing or implementing best practices.
- Keep abreast of tax developments across all areas and business changes and advise the business accordingly.
- Work closely and develop strong relationships with Finance teams across London and Birmingham offices including Commercial, Treasury, Business Intelligence, Financial Control and Middle Office.
- Adhoc reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Respond to queries raised by the Global Group Tax Accounting team.
- Manage and coordinate tax investigations and tax audits (if any)
- Ad-hoc duties and special projects as requested.
The skills you will bring (but don't worry if don't tick 100% of the boxes):
- ACA, ACCA, ATT newly qualified or equivalent. Working towards (or keen to undertake) CTA would be advantageous.
- Strong tax accounting skills, knowledge of US GAAP preferred.
- Ideally you will come from an accountancy background within professional services, current or prior experience.
