RM Recruit are working with a South Birmingham based membership body to recruit an Interim Financial Controller for their team. This is a crucial role within the organisation and, reporting to the Finance Director, the role is key in maintaining the day to day activities of the finance function and providing support to a range of budget holders.

Your remit will include, but not be limited to:

  • Supervision of the Finance Team, providing advice and training to all members of the finance team ensuring their understanding the controls and processes relevant to their area of responsibility
  • Responsible for the production of monthly management and financial accounts for the organisation and its subsidiaries conducting analysis and scrutinising figures.
  • Final review and authorisation of all external payments e.g. Supplier payment runs, Payroll BACS payments
  • Ensuring that all statutory and organisational financial requirements for the organisation and all subsidiaries are fully complied with at all times
  • Advising key stakeholders by providing information, advice & guidance to ensure effective decision making
  • Ensuring the finance team deliver informative financial reports, including budgets, budget monitoring reports, commentaries and financial statements which are timely and accurate;
  • Ensuring that the budget and membership cost setting process is completed within the agreed time frames
  • Completion of the VAT return ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and calculations are accurate and evidenced
  • Monitoring all balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis
  • Management the month end time table to ensure the finance team provide accurate and timely information and are prepared for all relevant audits

This role with have a duration of 3 months to cover a planned period of absence for the permanent post-holder. We are ideally seeking a qualified accountant for this role but are able to consider part qualified applicants or those who can demonstrate the required statutory skills. Hybrid working is on offer with 2 days be week required onsite.
