We are seeking a skilled Accountant to join our team in Birmingham. This role is ideal for a professional who is adept at producing accurate company accounts and has experience in managing a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a range of accounting functions within a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Manage and perform tasks including accruals, prepayments, and maintaining fixed asset registers along with calculating depreciation.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and handle audits firsthand.
- Conduct control account reconciliations and manage journals.
- Oversee year-end procedures and potentially handle aspects of payroll.
- Ensure monthly company accounts are produced accurately and on time.
- Lead and manage a team of 7-8 people within the accounts department, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Proven experience in managing a full spectrum of accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of accounting procedures and financial reporting.
- Experience in handling audits and managing VAT returns.
- Ability to manage and lead a team, with excellent communication skills.
