Job Title: Tax Accountant - Birmingham - Financial Services
Department: Tax
Key Relationships: Finance team, industry regulatory bodies, underwriters, tax authorities, tax consultants, and auditors.
Position Overview: This role involves supporting tax compliance and advisory services under the guidance of the Direct Tax Managers, playing a critical part in the team's success.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and filing corporate tax returns for various group entities.
- Handle corporate tax payments across European regions.
- Contribute to tax accounting and financial reporting at both entity and consolidated levels.
- Support various finance and tax-related projects.
- Prepare and submit tax reports for industry-specific entities both in the UK and internationally.
- Help refine tax compliance systems, processes, and controls.
- Perform ad-hoc accounting and tax-related tasks, including coordinating and gathering data for internal reports.
- Provide additional support to Tax Managers in other taxation areas when needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Candidate Requirements:
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
- Capable of managing time effectively to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
Experience and Knowledge:
- A university degree in finance, business, or accounting is preferred.
- Relevant tax/accounting qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CTA.
