Greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a UK Controller to oversee the UK finance function of a global manufacturing business based in Birmingham.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Directs and oversees accounting operations for all UK sites, leading and managing the Local UK Finance Team.

  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.

  • Conducts variance analysis and report on financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

  • Oversees the preparation of financial statements and filings in compliance with UK and US GAAP, supporting the audit process and liaising with external auditors.

  • Conducts ad hoc financial analyses and prepares reports to facilitate decision making.

  • Develops, implements, monitors, and tests internal controls in compliance with both local requirements and Sarbanes Oxley.

  • Assists in quarterly and annual budgeting and manages cash and working capital.

  • Works cross functionally and with other business units to identify and achieve operational improvements and build and assess business cases as necessary.

  • Mentors, guides, influences, and persuades others internally and externally.

  • Manages a team of various levels and is accountable for the performance and results of a team.

  • Integrates industry best practices in own area to achieve objectives.

  • Other duties as they arise.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)

  • Experience working in a manufacturing business

  • Experience managing teams

  • Experience in multinational companies

  • Experience or familiarity with Hyperion and Microsoft AX desirable

  • Good communication and influencing skills

  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills

  • Proficiency in financial modeling techniques

  • Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions

  • Solid track record of ensuring compliance of legal & corporate requirements

  • Good organization and time management skills

  • Commercial acumen with a strong understanding of business operations and market dynamics

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure

  • Self-motivated, able to work without supervision in a matrixed structure

  • High attention to detail and accuracy
