An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a well-established business in Birmingham City Centre on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role has become available due to an upcoming project and offers the perfect chance for someone looking to gain broad finance exposure in a supportive and fast-paced environment. You will be working within a collaborative finance team, handling both purchase ledger and sales ledger responsibilities while also assisting with bank reconciliations.

This position also presents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to management accounts, as you will be working closely with the Management Accountant. Whether you are looking to build on your existing finance experience or take the next step in your career, this role provides the perfect platform to expand your skill set. Due to the urgent nature of this role, it is best suited for candidates who are available immediately or on a one-week notice period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing invoices and handling supplier statement reconciliations
  • Managing the sales ledger, including cash allocation and query resolution
  • Performing bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records
  • Assisting with credit control tasks, including chasing outstanding payments
  • Supporting the month-end process, including accruals and prepayments
  • Working closely with the Management Accountant to gain exposure to management accounts tasks
  • Assisting with financial reporting and data analysis
  • Handling ad-hoc finance and administrative duties as required

Candidate Attributes and Skills:

  • Previous experience in an accounts assistant role, covering both purchase ledger and sales ledger
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to work with large data sets
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to work
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Immediate or one-week notice availability preferred
