Overview

Mitchell Adam have the pleasure of assisting our large Retail PLC client based in south Birmingham, with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant to join a team leading on technical and digital change in the business. The successful candidate will be joining a bustling commercial function as part of a sub team, dedicated to analysing large data to investigate cost, and identify areas of spend, reporting back to senior management teams with variance and bulletproof commentary. This role suits a studier with experience in journaling.

The day to day in this role will mean you are engaged across the board in your team, giving you total visibility of the business and giving you crucial commercial insight. You will be using an excel skillset to sift through large pools of data, pulling out discrepancies on P&L lines and making journal adjustments as you prepare month end MI packs, and then liaising directly with a qualified business partner to relay your analysis.

Skills needed

  • You will be a self-assured and confident communicator, as you will often find yourself in the room with Directors and Heads of in your sector.
  • Be of an adequate level in Excel, altering formulas and using pivots and lookups to manipulate data.
  • Have previous experience in making journal alterations, accruals, prepayments and balance sheets.
  • Be looking to, or have started studying CIMA/ACCA to develop along with the business.
